Fort George Wright WWII Letter September 1944

Written by a soldier at Fort George Wright, Convalescent Center, during WWII, in 1944. From the letter….

Well here I am in the hospital at Fort George Wright. I won’t be operated on for a few days. They are awfully crowded here. But the Captain got me in because my Captain said if I would get this operation over with, I could go to Portland and see about a transfer into the M.P.s. He is going to help me all he can. Its down right nice of him……I guess I will get a rest and sure will lose some weight which won’t hurt me at all…...
