WWII Letter Maxwell Field, Alabama, September 1943

Written by an Air Cadet, at Maxwell Field, Alabama, in September 1943. From the letter……

Oh how I wish this war had never started! At least I’d be able to see you talk to you, and things like this would probably never happen. However the war did start and here I am over a thousand miles away from you with my hands tied. If we could see each other, we could straighten things out one way or another but that’s not to be……We are leaving here this Thursday for Florida so don’t write to Maxwell. I don’t know whether you want to hear from me again but if you do let me know…..
